Chubb Size 9 Record Protection Cabinet
This is an Australian made Chubb Size 9 Record Protection Cabinet, specifically designed to provide high-level fire protection for important business records, documents, books, files and other irreplaceable paper-based assets.
Built with a robust inner and outer casing, the cabinet incorporates Chubb-tested and certified fire-resistant insulation designed to minimise heat conduction and protect the contents from extreme temperatures. The construction is reinforced at critical points to withstand severe impact without compromising its fire-resistant properties.
The substantial door is supported by three heavy-duty hinges and incorporates a tongue-and-groove closure designed to help prevent the passage of heat and flame. Locking bolts secure the door at the top, bottom and front, while fixed bolts engage into rebates in the cabinet body when closed, creating a strong and secure closure.
The Size 9 is fitted with two key locks and three adjustable shelves as standard, providing a large and flexible storage area suitable for commercial records and valuable documentation. Optional 9-inch cupboards were also available for additional internal organisation.
Chubb subjected the Record Protection Cabinet to an intensive fire and impact test. The cabinet was heated in a furnace for two hours to 1,850°F (approximately 1,010°C), dropped 20 feet onto broken rubble, and then returned to the furnace for a further 30 minutes at temperatures rising to 1,900°F (approximately 1,038°C). According to the brochure, after cooling, the stored books and papers were found to be in perfect condition.
